Downtown Adventures: The New Metro & Grand Park Splash Pad

A new metro line got put in by our house a few months ago. When Mrs. K, my autism world mentor, called and asked if we wanted to take the metro downtown to a splash pad I excitedly agreed. Yea to fun trips downtown. I packed up the double stroller and we walked to meet at the stop. Most of the time My Little Cricket is walking but I like to have the bottom seat for my Little Rose to flip too when my Little Cricket needs a break or as a bargaining tool if he isn’t listening. My Little Cricket was SO FRIGGING EXCITED to ride the train.

The metro was packed with people. A train comes every 12 minutes so that was super convenient. Once we got downtown we had to make a switch to the older underground metro for a quick blip so we could get to the park. The kids were gaga watching the train’s wosh by.

We were headed to Grand Park a place my friend had been to a ton of times. We don’t often venture downtown but this place was so much fun we will be coming back for sure. My Little Cricket had a blast running through the water and chasing his little friend. And my Little Rose crawled around like crazy, swallowing more water than I thought possible and attempting to see around her VERY soaked large sun hat. We spent so much time at the water park and had such a great time that we didn’t get a chance to check out the fenced in park. Note the fenced in part. Now that the baby is on the move, and with My Little Cricket still running off, I can only feel comfortable going to fenced in parks for the foreseeable future. We romped, we played, we all got fantastically wet, and then we stopped for some snacks. Everyone was tired for the quiet ride home. My kids are going to sleep well tonight.
