My Little Cricket’s Delay: Trying out a New ABA Direction - NDBI

A month and a half ago I hired an ABA company that would listen to what I wanted for my son. I wanted ABA that was looser, that was more play based and I only wanted to start at 6 hours a week and not the traditional 30-40 hours. And to make it easier on myself I wanted to deal with an ABA company that would handle the insurance end, since I was already having such difficulties handling the insurance already for two of my sons therapists. But what I am learning is that you get what you pay for, and sadly after meeting 5 therapists from this ABA company I had to let them go. So last week I fired my ABA Company.

This week I started with my new ABA company, the company that I was originally referred to by my mentor that runs the JASPER program that we are a part of at UCLA. The woman who created this ABA company worked at ECPHP in the past, she currently runs the baby JASPER program at UCLA and recently just started her own ABA company. I have to deal with the insurance by going with her company but she is INCREDIBLE, and that is exactly what I am looking for in all my therapists.

This week we had two assessments and two treatment sessions that were basically set so they could wrap their heads around my sons strengths and weaknesses. More questions, more explanations, more… more… more. My brain hurts.

Next week we will agree on a set of goals and a direction to go in. For now I am going to bed.
