My Little Rose: First Pediatrician Appointment

I woke up today with rock hard breasts. My milk has officially arrived. I know the next day or two is going to be uncomfortable but I am overjoyed to know that it looks like I will be able to breastfeed again without any supply issues.

Today we left the house to head to our first pediatrician appointment. When we moved closer to my husband’s work I didn’t switch my OBGYN. I liked her, I trusted her, and after all the drama and problems I had trying to conceive and finding a high risk doctor I trust I just decided that I would stay with her, even if the drive was long. So at the hospital I had the in house pediatrician see my daughter and as soon as I knew when we would be released I made an appointment at our pediatrician’s office.

My mom came with me to the appointment to help with the baby and to drive since I wasn’t cleared for driving with the meds I am on. The great news is that my Little Rose has gained weight from the hospital. Sure we still have a ways to go to get back to birth weight but hoping in another week we will get there. Sure I had to supplement for a day and a half in the hospital but now my milk was coming in and we were on 100% breastmilk.

My Little Rose was checked out and given a clean bill of health. My only problem with her is breastfeeding. I talked to the doctor at length about our issues and she referred me to a lactation consultant group to contact if I needed help. It’s just my Little Rose won’t latch well, or she won’t latch for long and it was starting to cause me a lot of stress and anxiety. Maybe in a few days if we aren’t doing better I will contact the Pump Station for help.

In the mean time we returned home with my perfectly healthy baby and an appointment to return in a week for another checkup.

I really like your pediatrician. She is so down to earth and friendly, taking the time to research any questions you had.
