Rogue Baby #2: Third OBGYN Appointment

I am so super excited about the new M21 test. I had two miscarriages before getting pregnant with my Little Cricket. Despite tons of blood work, analysis, and chromosome testing my doctor could not find a reason for the miscarriages. Instead we were labeled ambiguously as high risk. When I got pregnant with my Little Cricket I was a basket case, constantly worried about miscarrying, refusing to buy anything for the baby, refusing to plan the nursery or even think about a shower. I didn’t want to get my hopes up. I was convinced there was something wrong with me.

Now enter this pregnancy, where the M21 test is available. The M21 is a blood test that can detect if the fetus has any chromosomal abnormalities. Sure it can’t test for everything but at least this test can alleviate the most common cause of miscarriages. And as an added bonus I could also find out the sex of my baby. Unfortunately the test requires 4 vials of blood, and my Dr. needed an additional vial for her tests. I almost passed out. Now I just have to wait two weeks for the test results.

The dr was a little concerned. I haven’t gained any weight yet. I am only 10 weeks pregnant however, and after going over my diet and determining that I was getting enough to eat she didn’t seem too concerned. Then she did an ultrasound. I held my breath as I always do, waiting to see the heartbeat. Baby is doing just fine. Heartbeat was great and the measurements were perfect for how far along I was.

Confirming that everything was going smoothly I walked out of the office on clouds of happiness. I had my happy healthy Little Cricket and soon I would have another baby to snuggle and cuddle. I just have to stay positive and believe that I deserve this.
