Mom Group Beach Day

They say that it takes a village to raise a child. Back in our grandparents day your village was you family, living right around the corner, your best friends living across the street, and maybe even your parents living across the hallway. Now trying to raise a kid as a transplant to LALA land, with very little family close by is HARD. I don’t really know my neighbors, and pre-baby I didn’t really have many mom friends. I knew to preserve a little sanity I needed to create my own village.

After about ton of play dates, walks, picnics and fun I have finally managed to find several women, new mothers like myself, that love to get together and spend time listening, giving advice, or even giving a helping hand. These women have watched my little boy grow, and I have watched their children grow too. These are the first kids my son played with and as we continue further on this journey of parenthood I hope we stay close.

Today we met for another perfect sunny LALA land beach day. My Little Cricket and I have been to the beach so much this summer, I am sure we have been more often in the past few months than I have in the past 10 years. We have a great groove going on, and my Little Cricket is even eating slightly less sand, which is progress.

p.s. I think I am in love with the fruit seller on the beach. He brings me the most delicious mango, already cut. I love fruit but no one loves cutting it up and lugging it out to the beach. Hence my current happiness.

And because I cannot resist my Little Crickets cuteness I took a little video with him crawling all over the place on the sand… super cute baby even if my videography skills still need work. Life right now is SO GOOD.
