The Week in Moments: 58 Weeks Old

My Little Cricket,

Its been a really tough week for the both of us. You have been having night terrors. I don’t know what else to call them. You will be fast asleep, it’s the middle of the night and all of a sudden you wake up TERRIFIED. It takes me a good 20 minutes to calm you down and get you back to sleep. At first I thought it was a fluke, but after waking four times this week I am beginning to worry. After months and months of consistent amazing sleep the past week has been hard.

Daddy is still working a ton of overtime. We have been really good about getting to see him for a little bit every other day but I have to admit I am wrecked. With the screaming night terrors and without the help that daddy usually offers when he gets home I am back to feeling ZOMBIE exhausted. I don’t know how else to describe it, it’s a mind, body soul bone crushingly exhausted blanket. I am barely functioning. Needless to say when you are napping I am napping, that sure does help.

Its not all drama here by any means. In general you are the happiest little baby ever. I love that you are super mellow and super chill. I can take you anywhere, I can move around your schedule, within reason, and if we are out and you are tired you will just sleep in the stroller or in your car seat. You are almost never fussy, and if you are its for a good reason. Makes this mom thing so much easier when you are so incredibly awesome.

On top of the night terrors and the teething you are also super fussy. Your first tooth did finally poke through your gums though. And its super adorable, a tiny little snaggle tooth. I friggin LOVE IT! Since you finally got your first tooth, and since you are getting much better at eating things without gagging I finally took a step back in food preparation. I stopped cutting your blueberries in half. I know it might not sound like a big deal, but you love blueberries and cutting those bad boys in half takes time. Now I can just wash them and dump them on your tray.

You are still practicing with the spoon, often you want to try to hold it backwards. It seems in your mind that the pretty plastic piece should be held and the shiny handle should be used as a scoop. I keep trying to gently correct you but you are pretty stubborn… I guess you get that from me.

Looks like you are not the only one who is laking sleep. I can see it in the babies eyes, especially in the shots on the bed. It's tough to try to figure out why a little tike would have nightmares, if that's what's happening. Go figure. Hang in there baby!
