Now that the Decision has Been Made, Let the Planning Monster Loose

I kept going back and forth about throwing a first birthday for my Little Cricket. Of course he wont remember a birthday party but it is such a momentous milestone not only that my little baby will be turning one but also that Mr. Rogue and I survived the first year of parenthood. In the end after going back and forth for a month, despite how tired I am, I decided I had to throw a party. I reasoned that if I didn’t I would regret it.

So now that I made the decision to throw a party I had to quickly whip up an invitation… because his birthday is in a little under 7 weeks away; YIKES!!!

I didn’t have a ton of time to spend on the card, what with the now time crunch and my limited ability to do anything too time intensive right now.. I decided to do a monthly montage of photos of my Little Cricket. I really like how it came out.

And once the card was ordered I got on starting to dive into inspiration. OH MY GOODNESS people. I am a pretty crafty girl, and I love design and art and all things beautiful, however some of these one year old birthday parties online is simply CRAZY. I have decided that pintrest is evil. It just shows people doing cooler things that I have time for and it makes me feel like what I can accomplish will never be as fantastic.

Etsy on the other hand, etsy I just LOVE, and when I came across an adorable crocheted crown from Lace & Cable I couldn’t help but order it. I am not exactly sure if my Little Cricket it going to wear it at his party, I am thinking a more traditional birthday hat for that, but I will be able to at least do a photoshoot with it. SO CUTE.

I do better when I have a theme to run with, its just how my mind works best. After spending hours online looking at different themes in the end I just decided to continue the woodland theme that the nursery is designed with. In a few years, when my Little Cricket is crazy about some cartoon character or theme he can dictate the tone of his party, for now since he is too young for a preference I am doing what I love. Let the mood boarding begin.

Great birthday invitation, of course. I'd like to see the crown on him, looks cool.
