Indianapolis: The Enveloping Feeling of Home

Two months ago I flew to Michigan to see my grandmother and to visit a good friend who has a little boy I hadn’t met yet. Sadly when I landed I couldn’t go to my friends, her little boy was just diagnosed with croup and my little guy was only four months old and since we were leaving in a week and a half for Hawaii I decided to not visit her. We were both crushed. But then I head the great idea of extending my trip to Louisville and drive north to Detroit so I could visit my friend. As an added bonus I have family I have been wanting to see in Indianapolis, family that had a few babies since I have last seen them, family that was conveniently located on the way to Detroit.

Mr. Mafia is my mom’s cousins, which makes him my second cousin once removed… at least I think it does. Regardless this family is awesome, they have kids my age and we used to go camping with them often when I was growing up. Visiting with them is always like a warm hug, there is always noise and chaos, good food and lost of fun. At one point there were 15 people over, babies were crawling all over the floor. I always get the best feeling after visiting with them. They are some of my favorite people in the world.

Since I was there and since the kids are so adorable and since I love photography we took a little time out of our day to grab some photos of the kids. I do not envy child photographers, getting those kids to stay still, to smile and to look was nearly impossible. Trying to get siblings to sit together and both cooperate was impossible. In the end we did get several good photos. I would have preferred to go outside for better lighting but it was too cold for the kids. We made do with what we had and I liked several of them.

After we were done with their kids we tried with my Little Cricket. He really wasn’t in the mood for photos and after trying to get photos of the four kids before him we were all beat.

Being a model is exhausting work!

It was a lovely visit but way too short. I really wish my family all lived closer. I love my life but if I could change anything I would have all my family and friends in one town. I guess that is the benefit of growing up and living in the same city your whole life. I have moved so much everyone is scattered all over. I had to get on the road and start my five hour drive to Ann Arbor. Thankfully I couldn’t have planned it better if I tried. My little Cricket slept most of the drive and I arrived tired at 1AM at my friends.

I wish I could have joined you. Love this family. I think Mr. Family Man would fit better. Far cry from the Mafia. The kids are all adorable!
