Dancer Beach Bonfire

Mrs. Dancer every year has a party, bbq and bonfire at the beach. Bless her she has to get up at the crack of dawn to get there to reserve a fire pit (this is LALA land, if you don’t stake a claim early you won’t get one). The fun starts about 1 but since I was bringing my Little Cricket I opted to go when the sun was going down around 6. As I was driving in I wished I could have come earlier, there were large flocks of birds taunting me on the beach. The lighting was also pretty amazing… but I had to focus… I was going to a bbq.

Holy Moly I brought a ton of crap. I wasn’t really sure what I would need. Plenty of warm clothes, blankets, bottles, extra pacifiers, and more blankets. It can get cold on the beach at night after all. Since My Little Cricket goes down for bed around 7 he was up just long enough to say hello to a few people before totally conking out.

It was harder than I thought to go alone. The beach doesn’t really offer many places to just set my little guy down. Mrs. Dancer was super helpful and held him so I could eat and then again so I could make and eat my SUPER DELICIOUS Smores! Smores after all is one of the best things about being at a campfire.

My Little Cricket woke up for a little while, had his bottle and then became completely and utterly enraptured with the fire. He was a little trooper. It was hard to keep the smoke out of his eyes and keep him clean but we managed just fine. I love bonfires and could just sit there for hours watching the fire but then, once everyone was done cooking, one of our friends threw in a fire packet into the flames. The packet contains various metals and those metals make the flames have different colors. IT WAS SO COOL!!! I was mesmerized by the pretty lights. Totally going to get this for Mr. Rogue one day he would have loved it even more.

Of course we went home smelling like yucky smoke which just meant that as soon as we walked in the door daddy gave our boy a bath while I jumped into the shower.
