Baby Brain: Getting Together the Master List

With Mr. Rogue’s spine surgery tomorrow and my delivery date only a month away I feel like I am running out of time to get things ready. So today despite the fact that all I wanted to do was sleep I managed to go through everything from the baby shower. Of course that took forever because I couldn’t help but go through everything slowly and really appreciate all the awesomeness. At the shower it was a frantic rush to get everything opened quickly and efficiently so now I could really take stock.

Of course my favorite gifts were the memorabilia. We got a blanket from Mr. Rogue’s parents, a blanket he used as a little boy and one now that we can use for our own. Apparently there is a photo of him lying on it that Mrs. Faith is going to hunt down. I can’t wait to see it!

Added: Hurrah Mrs. Faith was able to find the photo and it is SUPER adorable. Love his little face!

Looking at that little elephant blanket from Mr. Rogue’s childhood of course made me think about my baby blanket I had as a little girl. I used it as a baby, as a toddler, and as a teen. It wasn’t until I left for college that I finally gave it up. My mom about 12 years ago took the ratted, tattered thing and took out all the stiches. She then washed all the cloth, bought new batting and put all the pieces back together again. It has to be the single most perfect gift I have yet to get. We both bawled like a baby when I opened it and I have been carrying it around with me all these years for my little one.

My mom sister is super crafty to the point where she makes everything from quilts to afghans, to clothes to wedding gowns. She mailed over two fantastic pieces of original art. A white knit blanket with stubble little silver shimmers in it that is almost too perfect for me to even think about using and a cross stitch of an adorable dragon which surprisingly and totally by accident matches my nursery colors.

After sitting there for hours organizing and reminiscing I finally was able to finish my list of what I now have and compare it to the list of things I needed and finally make a master list of things we still need. WHEW, a bunch of work but now I feel much more organized and can now hit the baby store soon to get finished!

I still remember that Christmas when you opened your old tattered, newly constructed baby blanket. I'm so happy you appreciated it, I really thought you would. I loved that Mrs. Faith kept one from Mr. Rogues baby days. And the new one from Aunt Trisha was beautifully done.
