Lunch Dates Galore

Lately I have been feeling a little bit better, not a whole lot but enough to get out of the house and attempt to make an effort to be social. So for the past two weeks I have been ‘doing lunch’ on the days that I don’t have anything else going on. And yes if there is a day where I am doing anything else I cannot make more plans. I have simply come to the conclusion that double booking is completely off limits.

So I had lunch with my favorite lady Mrs. Rico at this fabulous little Italian joint right around the corner from her house. One symptom of pregnancy that I am not minding at all is the fact that everything tastes so much more amazing than normal. Like my taste buds are on steroids garlic tastes more fantastic, roasted tomatoes more succulent and mozzarella cheese the creamiest I have ever tasted. I am assuming all the chefs in the LALA land area haven’t just gotten better and that I am in fact banking in on a good pregnancy symptom.

Of course I could only finish half my lunch, I am trying to keep my portion size down so I can eat more often during the day. Eating more often was a suggestion from my OBGYN and it is helping tremendously with the nausea. I know there is no shame in the gain when you are pregnant. Pregnant women are supposed to gain weight, but I would rather gain slowly and moderately for the baby. Not crazy and fast because I simply had to have six large meals a day. It is so hard to gain weight and be happy about it. I am happy that I made it to 18 weeks and only gained 6 pounds, of course trying to diet for the past 4 years willing the scale to go down any gain is hard. And of course I am not dieting now, just sometimes choosing carrots over snickers and trying to moderate portions.

I hadn’t planned to stay for dessert but Mrs. Rico’s daughter (who is five years older than me) called and drove over to say hi to me. So I ordered dessert, a yummy, and creamy oh so amazing cup of tiramisu. Again I only ate half… I will finish the second half tonight with dinner!
