Baby Brain: A Little X-ray

I am a crafty girl and I just adore Halloween. I wanted to do something with my pregnancy this Halloween but since I am so early I just look like I am sporting a beer gut not a pregnancy. So I decided to just do something cute and simple at home for a fun little photoshoot. After looking through the internet (oh my what a wonderful place it is to find cute ideas) I ran across several people that created a skeleton baby shirt. I thought it would be an adorable idea to do the same!

I found a long sleeve shirt at old navy, picked up some all-purpose paint at Michaels and grabbed a roll of freezer paper from my local grocery store. Now I have to admit, I have heard so much fantastic things about freezer paper and crafts yet I have never used it. I however wanted really precise lines to paint the skeleton on the shirt, and if you have ever tried freehand painting on a shirt you know that straight lines are never going to happen.

CUTTING THE FREEZER PAPER INTO THE STENCIL I WANTED

So I started by drawing my design on the paper side of the freezer paper and then I used a x-acto knife to carefully cut out the parts I wanted painted. I then pinned it on the shirt shinny side down and made sure that everything was just where I wanted it. Then comes the ironing; iron on medium high heat until the paper has stuck to the fabric. Put a piece of cardboard on the inside of the shirt so the paint does not bleed through to the back side of the shirt.

PAINT INSIDE THE IRONED ON STENCIL

And now you can paint beautiful perfect straight lines using your ironed on freezer paper stencil. I did two coats to make sure the white really was white and then let it dry overnight. Now I just had to gently peel off the freezer paper stencil.

It was so super easy! I cannot believe that freezer paper has eluded me for so long. My new best friend for crafts!!
