Next Stop, Universal Studios

We had plans to go to Universal Studios today. Instead of going all day and dealing with the mini-heat wave we have in LALA land right now we opted to arrive at Universal Studios at 2. We were thinking with a later start that we could maybe beat some of the crowds and at least only deal with some of the heat. It ended up being a fantastic idea, sure it was hot and busy when we arrived but about an hour and a half later the temperature started to drop and people started to leave.

Most of the family was able to come except for Mr. Rogue. Since he went out last night with us he opted to work today. So Mr. & Mrs. Fruit, Mrs. Fruits parents from the Philippines, Mr. & Mrs. Faith and myself created our entourage.

I haven’t been to Universal Studios since I moved here. I vaguely remember coming here as a child, according to my mom I was about 11 or so. Most of the rides I remember going on are now gone and even the Studio Tour, which is what Universal Studios is most known for was completely different. I was hoping something would be similar but really after over 20 years of course everything would be vastly different.

TRANSFORMER RIDE – A FRAGMENT OF THE ALLSPARK IS BEHIND ME

I really liked this park, it is gigantic like Disney or Six Flags but I didn’t feel so overwhelmed here. Since the park closed at 9 we had a perfect 7 hours of the park craziness. Other than the rides we found other things that were fun. I spotted Beetlejuice, which is probably my all-time favorite movie ever, and I couldn’t help but run over and get a photo taken with him. Loved his makeup!

We also couldn’t help posing with several of the props around the park. My favorite was the hanging jaws which Mrs. Fruits parents created a cute pose with. And then there were the ears we picked up to take home for my niece Ms. Bambi and the hilarious lizard masks Mrs. Fruit and her mom tried on. Of course at the end of such a long long day we were exhausted. We even managed to catch a quick nap in line.

Our last ride of the night was Jurassic Park, a water ride! I guess getting wet just before the park closed wasn’t such a hot idea, after all when the sun sinks below the horizon the temperature sure does drop here. Some of us were wetter than others. Unfortunately for Mrs. Faith I think she ended up winning the award for the wettest in our group.

Of course we were super hungry when we exited the park. Thank goodness there is a super big mall you have to walk through to get back to the parking lot; a mall with plenty of places to eat. I tried to imagine how this city of lights must look to Mrs. Fruits parents. They were so excited by so many things I rarely think about anymore. The smiled on their faces was infectious.

THEY EVEN HAVE A HARD ROCK CAFE

Trying to find a restaurant that seven people want to go too was a little bit more difficult. In the end we settled for Bubba Gump Shrimp. I even managed to find something on the menu that wasn’t seafood, thank goodness these seafood places always have a few chicken options. I loved all the d├ęcor in the restaurant, and they even had a Forest Gump trivia which Mr. Fruit rocked at. All in all it was a fantastic day, even if I did feel like a little bit of the odd man out without my man. We joked that I could just Photoshop him in the photos when I got home, hence my arm wrapped around thin air. HAHAHHAHAHA.

LOVED Universal Studios. I remember going like it was yesterday. The greatest thing about a park like this is it's forever evolving. Jaws, and ET were big at that time, and we saw Lucille Ball! So FUN!
