A Place to Hang

I didn’t have any plans today other than to clean. I have been running around like crazy, I thought some cleaning and a good book all while hanging out at home was a good plan. But plans change. Ms. Tiny, called and said she was right around the corner. She was getting her hair cut right around the corner and wanted to know if she could swing by show me her hair and hang out for a little bit.

Ms. Tiny is my best friends little sister, I have known her since she was eight years old. It was the sweetest thing, the day before Mrs. Dancers wedding us three girls were just hanging out and Ms. Tiny hugged me, told me she loved me and that she cannot ever remember a time when I wasn’t around.

We got to chatting and soon an hour had gone by. She was hungry, I was hungry so I started to look through my refrigerator for something to cook. And then Ms. Tiny’s friend called and she was hungry too. So I started cooking, Ms. Tiny ran to the grocery store for some odds and ends AND even came back with a movie and Ms. Tiny’s friend arrived. We whipped together homemade roasted red pepper hummus and an Indian curry vegetarian dish which is divine.

After dinner we all collapsed in the family room and watched not only one movie but two. Ms. Tiny fell asleep for a while, her friend was tapping away on her laptop finishing some last minute work and I just lounged. I always wanted my house to be a home where people felt comfortable to come and just hang out. I want to eventually house large dinner parties more often, have more backyard bbq’s and be the house my kids want their friends to come too. It totally was not my intention to have people over twice back to back but it was simply lovely to spend time with friends.
