Hollywood Bowl: Girls Night Out

We had four tickets to the Hollywood Bowl tonight. Mr. Rogue had to work so he was going to miss this concert. I am not too sure he was super upset, Liza Minelli was playing, it was his least favorite concert of our ticket package. I thought it would be fun to get together a group of girls; Mrs. Dancer, Mrs. Bulldog, Ms. Sweetie and I. We all met at my house, each of us bringing a different dish to share and we headed out to Hollywood. On the drive we passed a mob of Zombies. Oh don't worry, yes, you totally heard me right. There were about 40 of them, all dressed like death, all limping right down Hollywood Boulevard.

Zombies apparently create traffic jams, and we ended up getting to our seats late, with only 15 minutes before the show started. Generally I get there early enough to eat and have some time before the concert. But we ended up scrambling. We all just pulled out stuff, chucked it on the single and only table we took time to set up and started quickly eating. Then serendipitously the concert got delayed. There was something going on with the sound system and in the end it took a good 40 minutes in order to get it working. We ended up having plenty of time to talk and eat and drink yummy wine.

Finally Liza came onto the stage. She is now about 75 years old and she started cracking jokes. Within 15 minutes she was complaining about her shoes and right there she took them off. We all got a chuckle out of that. The concert ended up being better than I originally thought it was going to be. They had tailored many of the keys so she could hit the notes and most of the time she did a fantastic time. Of course there were some horribly off key notes but overall she did an ok job.

Mrs. Bulldog was convinced that they were going to take a intermission regardless that they started late. Liza after all was technically a senior citizen. We were all shocked then when Liza stated after an hour that they were in fact NOT going to be taking an intermission. My friends and I were all worried she wasn't going to make it to the end. Since they weren't having an intermission, and since we saved the cupcakes just for intermission we decided to take them out mid-concert. I got the double dark chocolate with chocolate chips. YUMMMMMMM.

We all had such a great time. When you don't have family nearby friends become all that much more important. I am so thankful to have these women in my life.

Fav friends, great pics, a concert and CUPCAKES! It doesn't get any better than that.
