Memorial Day Mayham: Let's Party

I have been a lean mean decorating machine. Curtains are being finished and hung, furniture is arriving, paintings and art are being hung and the house…. it is FINALLY getting completed. Because everything is finally looking like a home and less like a thrown together college mode poge we decided to throw a party, and since Mr. Rogue had memorial day off of work we decided to have a BBQ. BBQ equals large fire under my butt to get everything ready. I must have went to 10,453 stores, including a crazy trip to Costco where I almost was crushed with the massive amount of people shopping for their memorial day parties. I almost didn't fit everything in the car, as it was I ended up driving home in the forest.

WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

I finished mostly everything the few days before the party so the morning of was pretty relaxed. We had breakfast, I did a little last minute light cleaning and Mr. Rogue made his oh so famous, oh so yummy 'half-track' burgers. I am blessed, really really blessed. Not only is Mr. Rogue the most amazing husband ever, he also worked at a Sous Chef to put himself through school. When I met him I adored him from the first moment, however, when I found out how amazing this man can cook those little fluttering butterflies of 'I really like this guy' turned into hula dancing kittens of love. The universe had sent me the perfect man.

MR. ROGUE IS THE BEST HUSBAND EVER

We had a potluck party where we got the meat and everyone brought a dish to share, makes it a whole lot easier for a big party. I made cupcakes, not because I planned on it but because Ms. Pool Shark guilted me into it. But this story has multiple prongs.

PRONG 1: I was at the grocery store Sunday night (the night before the party) at 12:20am. Yes I was shopping in the wee hours of the morning or late at night depending on how you want to look at it. After my Costco debacle fighting the swarms of people I knew I didn't want a repeat performance at the grocery store. So I went super late, like I sometimes do, and it worked; there wasn't a single customer in that store except me. LOVE.

PRONG 2: I was on the phone with Ms. Pool Shark, and yes she was up at as well, as she often is. Even more impressive is that it was 3:20am in the morning for her... because she lives on the east coast. This time she was driving to her sisters and she chooses to drive late at night so Baby Pool Shark can just sleep on the long car ride. Since she was stuck driving late at night with only a sleeping baby for company I took her grocery shopping with me. We do a bunch of stuff together on the phone; eat, shower, wash dishes, drive, run errands. LOVE.

PRONG 3: I was focusing a part of my attention on our conversation and the other part of my attention was focusing on filling the cart. Because she was helping me shop I would interrupt our conversation to ask her opinion; which was better sweet pickle relish or dill - where did she think the sauerkraut would be. In between our conversation and asking her opinion I was making some not so Martha Stewart comments. You see I burned SO MUCH STEAM getting the house ready for the party that I didn't have anything left to go all out making cute food like I normally would. I was buying the meat and the alcohol and everyone else could 'suck it'. I believe those were my exact words, not because I didn't want to throw the party, or that I didn't think I would have fun but because it was late and I was exhausted. Essentially I was a tiny itsy bit crabby.

That is when Ms. Pool Shark twisted my arm, smacked me across the face made guilted me into MAKING something. I figured I had about 5 minutes of energy to spare so I bought a box of Betty Crocker cupcake mix and some boxed icing. And then she guilted me into getting something to decorate them as well. Using frosting to decorate the cupcakes into little mini flags would never fit into my five minute window so I bought raspberries. And people who don't like raspberries on their cupcakes can 'suck it' I said.

SUPER YUMMY AND SUPER EASY AND SO NOT MARTHA STEWART OF ME

Once everyone got to our house we put on music and just lazed around the backyard. It was the perfect semi sunny day. Not too hot and not too cold. Life is moving so fast and I don't get to see everyone as often as I would like. It was a good mix of people and we had a riot.

I TOOK SO MANY PICTURES OF MS. BAMBI SHE IS JUST SO CUTE

Mr. Rogue and his brother started up the grill to cook all the meat and the corn on the cob and I went inside with a few of the girls to set out all of the food. By the time we were done setting out all the food we were starving. It seemed to take forever for the meat to get done. Once it was finished and everything was laid out we dove in. YUMMMMMY.

I just LOVE the layout of this new house for parties. The family room and kitchen combine into a great room and there are two large french doors that open up into the backyard. We have a large kitchen with a peninsula that is perfect for laying out a spread of food. When we walked into this house and saw the layout we both loved the fact that it is perfect for entertaining. Mr. Rogue and I love to have people over and I can see myself in this house raising a family for years to come.

BABY FRUIT IS GETTING SO BIG

We had just put the food out and started eating when the Rambo's arrived. Impeccable timing as always. Ms. Blue is getting so big and so much fun. I loved having all the people and kids at my house, it felt so right. If Mr. Rogue would let me I would have this many people over my house all the time.

am so thankful for Mrs. Rambo. Not only is she a great friend but she also loves my dog Rogue. Tomorrow early morning I am leaving to visit my parents in Charlotte, NC and once again Mrs. Rambo offered to take care of Rogue. Thanks for taking care of my precious puppy baby!

ALWAYS GETTING HIS PHOTO TAKEN BY THE PAPARAZZI

Mrs. Dancer arrived very late but I was happy at least she made it. She has had a very busy and crazy last two days. That coupled with her still not healed back has taken a ton out of her. Mr. Dancer sadly had to work but since we are only five minutes away from his office he took a long lunch and swung by to get some food. It is so sweet to see him and Mrs. Dancer together. They love each other so much and it is super obvious to all that they are adorable together. I have never seen her happier than she is right now.

JUST HAPPPY SHE MADE IT

Near the end of the night once dusk arrived we finally got to try out our new fire pit, a birthday gift from one of Mr. Rogue's friends. Its gas which makes me super happy for convenience and which also follows our counties very strict code. We are not even allowed to have a real wood burning fireplace anymore which is sad. But a fo-fire is much better than no fire at all and it was AMAZING just sitting out there and chilling out. This thing is going to get so much use.

No one throws a party like you do, or can blog better. Makes the rest of us feel like we were right there with you.

LOVE! I adore all of the picture of Ms. Bambi, she is just gorgeous and so adorable. I am hungry now, thanks a lot! :)~

p.s. You should have done one raspberry and one blueberry on each cupcake to make a red, white and blue theme in honor of Memorial Day. Especially since you already had the white icing as a back drop. Too bad I didn't think to tell you that while we were on the phone. Then again it was hard enough to get you this far!! HA HA
