You know when there is a series of events that all begin cascading from one simple event. Do you ever think ‘Ah if only that one thing hadn’t happened, none of the other events would have ever taken place.’ YEAH. That is the kind of day I am having today.

The morning started off well enough. I got my girls, Baby Bambi and Ms. Little out of bed, we all trooped downstairs for some pancakes and to finish our movie from the night before. It was a fabulous comfy morning all snug in the house while the rain pelted away outside.

Inevitably we packed up, it was time to take Ms. Little home, so we braved the downpour and ran to the car. Now this is the event that could have changed all. My car wouldn’t start. Yesterday I had let Baby Bambi play with the car lights in the backseat while I unpacked the car. Seems like in those three minutes Baby Bambi turned on a light that I never turn on, therefore when I took her out of the car and made sure all the lights were off I missed this one light. That light stayed on all night, therefore draining my battery dry. But all that took a few seconds to compute and by that time we had all already gotten wet, gotten into seatbelts; I almost cried. Had I only known that was the START to my horrible day I would have just stayed at home.

I got AAA out in a reasonable amount of time, and managed to get Ms. Little home only about a half hour late. But only a minute after dropping her off I managed to get into a fender bender. Since it was pouring rain out, and since LALA land has horrible drainage because it almost never rains, the roads were slick. Add in a punk kid jaywalking and a car in front of me stopping VERY suddenly to avoid said punk and you have me hitting the bumper of the car in front of me.

Although there was no damage to my car except for a very small scrape the car I hit had a cracked bumper. Thank goodness Baby Bambi slept through it all, but it wasn’t fun shelping out in the rain to look at the cars and then exchange insurance information... there goes my good driver discount... SIGH the things you think about when you are an adult.

Before the accident I had a list of errands that I wanted to get done. After the accident I decided to ignore my list but because Mr. Rogue was landing in a few hours I didnt want to drive all the way back home and then all the way back out to pick him up. In the end I decided to go to the mall for a little retail therapy. Oh how shopping can help a wounded soul and that stroller although annoying to get through crowded isles makes a HANDY dandy bag carrier. Note to self, if you buy too many things and outweigh the kid the stroller tips over. Don’t worry no one was hurt with that one thank goodness.

Mr. Rogue of course got delayed at the airport so in desperation to keep Baby Bambi happy I introduced her to retail therapy via the toy store. Tiny little tinkerbell toys won her heart and gave me the extra hour of time I needed before picking up my husband.

But my super fun day didnt end there, oh no that would have been too easy. It took me over an hour to drive the loop at LAX. Because of the holiday weekend there was more traffic than I have ever seen. It was completely NUTS. Normally it would have drove me crazy alone but with a 3 year old in the back seat who needed constant attention it was HORRIBLE.

When I found out the car battery was dead I would have been much better locking us all in the house until the dark black rainclouds went away. I was so happy when the Fruits came to pick up Baby Bambi, rent a babies are the way to GO!! I am exhausted.

Rent-A-Baby, what a cute title for this post. I am thankful you and she are alright after the fender dender.

isn't' 'rent a baby' the definition of aunt/uncle? (holy punctuation marks there) It always seems the last day is the hardest because the end is in sight with your man at the end of the tunnel :) wine o'clock was probably wonderful :)
