Home Sweet Home: Horder in the Hizzy

So although getting this house has been a complete nightmare in terms of logistics and timing it looks like we will get the keys soon, like in six days soon, and I am EXCITED. Of course in order to move I have to finish packing our life up into boxes. All I can do is shake my head at all this ‘stuff’. It is insane, we have only been in this house for five years. I knew that having an actual storage room would up the amount of stuff we could keep, because let’s face it if you have a tiny one bedroom apartment you are not going to have 10 bins of Christmas decorations, however I wasn’t prepared for the AMOUNT of stuff we have. And I am a bit of a pack rat, I can’t seem to help myself, I just never know when I might need some random thing that I don’t need now but I MAY need it and then where will I be. Panic, chaos... or as Mr. Rogue suggests if I really need it we could just buy another one.

Ladies and gentlemen I am an official horder! At least I am an organized horder.

Since our moving date has been delayed several times I have packed maybe more than I should at this stage. I keep reaching for things that are already packed and I will be DAMNED if I am going to tear open even one of those carefully packaged boxes to look for said item. With that being said it is amazing at how I am squeaking by with so little. Mr. Rogue was even hopeful that this would be a good lesson in being able to live with less... ummmm yeah I don’t think so but nice try honey!

Today Ms. Sweetie came over and helped me all day in the storage room. We organized, cleaned down the dusty bins, carried them inside and then relabelled them. Packing is tedious and horrible but with a buddy it can be a little more fun. Afterward as we were walking in pain hunchback style from all the heavy lifting we ventured out to my favorite Mexican place where we showered in margaritas and yummy food. Heavy labor that sure brings on an appetite.

A good productive day, a fabulous cousin to help with all the work. Now I am going to go take a hot bath and use a heating pad on my back...hopefully I can walk better tomorrow.

I don't think you're a hoarder, you are still a collector.....if you keep receipts or old cereal boxes, THEN you're a hoarder. If you find an animal in your house that doesn't belong to you, THEN you're a hoarder. Plain and simple, you have a lot of stuff :)
