The Sunday Skinny: Week 10

One of the hardest parts about taking control of the way I am eating is the way our society uses food as a way of getting together. Every time I turn around we have a birthday, a get together with friends, a bbq party that revolves around sitting around a table and eating. Changing the way I eat at home is only half the battle. Changing the way I eat when going out for a meal is a whole other story.

For now I try to not go out as often. Weekly Sunday brunches with my cousin have now been substituted for Sunday walks to the park.

And my neighbour and I instead of drinks and lunch we pack a picnic and walk as well. Sometimes however eating out is unavoidable, unless you want to be ostracized from life. We do still go out to dinner from time to time and I just try to make better choices. Choices like avoiding the evilness that is the pre carb basket. Almost every restaurant we go to now has this basket or platter of chips or bread and pretending that it’s not on the table is hard. When I am with Mr. Rogue we just ask the waiter not to bring it, but when I am out with a larger crowd I just try and grit my teeth. It is hard... oh so hard.

THE EVIL BREAD THAT I CANNOT TOUCH

I love that Southern California’s menus now mostly have the calories printed in them. It really shows you HOW MANY calories you are eating if you have a mind to look. Choices that seem like good ideas are most often than not saturated in evil hidden ways. Now instead of going to our favourite restaurants and ordering the regular meals we would have gotten in the past we are ordering smarter and then packing half to go home.

These changes have packed a big punch and I am happy to say that I dropped FOUR POUNDS this week – WHOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Now down to 184 pounds I only have four more pounds to go to cross of ‘Weight Gain Round 4’ in essence erasing 30 pounds and three years of weight gain. I can lose 4 pounds in two weeks I just know it. GO ME!

Weight Gain Round 5: 210 pounds. 20 pounds gained when I lost the baby.

Weight Gain Round 4: 190 pounds. I lost weight for the wedding and then I gained it all back plus an additional 10 pounds. The wedding gave me a date to reach for but once that day passed all my plans fell apart and the bingeing started again. BLAST IT!!!

Weight Gain Round 3: 180 pounds. When my brother passed away I started bingeing regularly to cover my emotions and gained another 30 pounds.

Weight Gain Round 2: 150 pounds. I gained 15 pounds when I tackled that large project at work and worked all those long hours for a year.

Weight Gain Round 1: 135 pounds. I gained the inevitable ‘I’m in a comfy relationship’ 10 pounds after I started dating my husband.

Start weight when I moved to California 125.

GOAL WEIGHT = 135-150 pounds
