Nerdy Birdy: Huntington Central Library

Generally I have super good birding when I visit the Huntington Central Library. After all there is plenty of water, a ton of trees, lots of space... everything a little bird could ask for; however today the birds were just not playing. Oh I found them, but instead of having them come easily to me I really had to look hard. Because they were so difficult to find today, once I did find something, I stuck with it for a while. What I learned was enlightening. I may have to adopt this strategy more often because I was able to successfully photograph three finicky species in one day. And when I say finicky I mean that the Bushtit, the Wrentit and the Spotted Towhee are all birds that love to hide, move fast and stay far far away from people. All there are usually so deep in shrub and shadow that you never get a good shot. But today I got great shots of all three! I would count today as a great success and maybe even a little learning experience. Perseverance is the key. Hope you enjoy.
