Book Club

I miss my book club, which has sadly fallen apart. I will start another someday, once kids get older and lives settle down a bit more. For now it seems crazy schedules rule all. I do miss the chatter, the wine, the friend’s laughter, the good food and the books that we debated – although sometimes there was less book talking and more gossiping. Those days are now filed behind me just waiting to be renewed again.

I am super excited however because two of my favourite books from our book club readings were made into movies.

First is “Water for Elephants” written by Sara Gruen which flips through time between the 93 year old man in a nursing home to his memories of life at the circus. The fact that they casted Robert Patterson and Resse Witherspoon in the movie just makes me want to watch it that much more. Both are awesome with their acting.

The other book, “The Help” written by Kathryn Stockett, is about a group of women in Mississippi during the 1960’s. Its raw, it challenges society’s rules and a secret project brings the unlikeliest of people together.

I always like to read the book before I watch the movie and both these books are fantastic. I hope the movies live up to the stories I have in my head. I can’t wait!

I love reading a good book and watching it turn into a film too! You and Courtney can start a book club of your own. There's two in it already. Lauren is going to win Idol :)

I already saw previews for those movies but knew I needed to read the book first. THank you for reminding me :)
