A Birthday with a Little Flare

This past weekend was Mr. Rogue’s birthday, which just happened to fall on mother’s day this year. We slept in until noon, I cooked him breakfast and then we sat down so he could dig into his gifts.

Since Mr. Rogue is terribly hard to buy gifts for I thought this year was a huge success. He received a new fancy shmancy BBQ set from his parents. Of course Mr. Rogue was a bit miffed that this gift arrived a week early and I wouldn’t let him touch it. We used to grill all the time until last fall our grill decided that it was done with life and broke... we plan to get a new grill shortly and I cannot wait for sweet baby back ribs, hamburgers and salmon on the grill. YUM

THANKS MOM AND DAD IT WAS A FANTASTIC CHOICE

My parents sent him a gift that made his face light up... remember the beer bouquet I got him for his birthday. Well my parents went one step further and got him a beer around the world package. 12 bottles full of deliciousness – his words not mine. Needless to say he was THRILLED!

12 BOTTLES OF DELICIOUSNESS = SUCCESS THANKS MOM

Of course I also got him a few gifts. Some things that he needed like a new wallet to replace the one he lost in Las Vegas two months ago, a traveling coffee cup and a super spicy Cajun blend that I knew he would adore. The best gift however is something that we have both been wanting for months... but that gift deserves an entire post and you will just have to wait a few more days until I get it all together. Worth it I promise.

I had made reservations a few weeks ago and we had a fantastic dinner at Ruth Chris, thanks for the gift certificate Mom and Dad we finally used the Christmas gift certificate. We ordered steaks, crab cakes, broccoli and these SUPER AMAZING slow cooked beefsteak tomatoes that I plan on attempting to recreate, don’t worry once I get the recipe right I will share it with you because these were SO TASTY!

MY MOUTH WATERS AT THE THOUGHT OF THAT MEAL

Our meal was slow filled with some big plans for the immediate future, no I am not ready to spill the beans but we are excited for some changes, and no sillies I am not pregnant. Because Mr. Rogue is an introvert I prearranged the restaurant to bring out a small desert, no fanfare, no singing (which he would have hated but I would have loved) – but I did have them add a candle because a birthday without a tiny bit of flare is a sad thing.

Mr. Rogue you make my toes curl, you are a rock that I have clung to in these past few years and I don’t know where I would be without you. Every day I feel so lucky that you are mine and that I am yours. I love you.
