Taste Buds: Bacon Wrapped Filet

This was such a simple meal, a tiny twist on filet which we cook often here BUT it was so stinking yummy that I just had to share with you. A tender cut of Filet soaked in wine and wrapped in apple wood bacon... yea makes your mouth water don’t it. For the apple wood bacon I got some from my butcher and asked it to be cut really thick, by wrapping it around the steak the fat and flavour from the bacon really helped to infuse the tender steak with added deliciousness. YUMMMY YUMM, hope you enjoy.

2 6 oz filet
2 thick slices of apple wood bacon
½ cup red wine
¼ cup A1 sauce
salt and pepper to taste
2 wooden skewers
1 tablespoon of butter

1. 2 hours before cooking whisk together in a small bowl the red wine and the A1 sauce. Wrap the bacon around the meat and skewer with one of the wooden sticks (I used shish kebab sticks). Put steaks in bowl, cover with saran wrap and refrigerate for an hour and a half.
2. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
3. Cook meat on a pam sprayed pan for 15 minutes or until it is to the desired doneness.
4. Place ½ tablespoon pat of butter on top of each steak and broil the steaks for about 2 minutes just to get a crispy outside.
