On The Road Again

Mr. Rogue and I met my parents for dinner in Ventura CA today so we could say goodbye. My parents have been visiting since October last year and have stayed all winter in the surrounding area. Sadly this has been one of the worst winters ever. We have had record amounts of rain in Southern California, in fact it rained six straight days in late December and we received over half of our ANNUAL rainfall. Half in six days it is completely unheard of.

So my parents have been roughing it, stuck in their trailer while the bad weather raged on and on. Although not happy about being stuck in the trailer so much I am so happy that they stayed so long in my area. Since I moved away from home to go to college in Pennsylvania when I was 18 I haven’t spent more than a week vacation with them. Having them so close for so long makes me really wish we lived down the street, that we could celebrate all our holidays together, have family Sunday dinners and I am afraid that feeling will just intensify once we have children. But I am a glass half full kind of girl, I cannot change the situation we all find ourselves in and until the day when it can be possible to live close I will just have to be grateful of the things I do have. I have a great relationship with both my parents, we talk often and we visit as often as we can. It is enough for now because that is our reality.

Today is the last time I get to see them, they are taking off to Arizona and beyond on a 5 month trip toward my brother and his family in Indianapolis and my grandmother in Michigan. They don’t plan to be back in the area for two years but you never know, plans could get changed if I find out that I am expecting; which we are all praying for.
