Everything is Better with Embellishments

Today is the celebration one of my dearest friends, it is Ms. Pool Shark’s birthday and although I cannot be with her in body I at least was able to spend a good bit of time, about four hours, on the phone with her today. Much of our time was spent reminiscing about when we met, the years of our friendship, the trials and tribulations and lamenting over the fact that we don’t live in the same city.

We met 10 years ago in late winter at a bar... yes as all good friendships begin here. We were both pool sharks and as we circled the table something magical happened our competitiveness and need to beat one another somehow transformed into a long-time friendship. Although we cannot remember who was the champion on the table that night we did end up going out to shoot pool together 3-4 times a week.

Eventually we ended up living together and pretty much were inseparable for years. One of my greatest regrets about leaving Pittsburgh to move to Los Angeles was leaving her behind. Oh how I wish all our talk of her moving out to LALA land had finally happened somehow.

Instead she has stayed in Pittsburgh, she has found a fabulous man and she now has a beautiful baby. We do try and see each other as often as we can, it is never enough, but when we are sad at being apart we reminisce about our most recent escapades together. Our Europe trip is constantly brought up in little texts and facebook messages to each other and we are planning a visit sometime this summer.

THE BEST TRIP EVER

Anyways I don’t know about you but I have the HARDEST times picking out cards. I know we all love Halmark but I am just one of those people that sit there for an hour looking through EVERY SINGLE CARD and still am not 100% happy with what I find. Sure I can find the perfect card for my mom, or another friend but that one card for the person I am looking for, that has all I want to say just seems to allude me. I have therefore adopted finding at least a part of what I want to say and then I go on to fill in the blanks. Low and behold, the card I sent Ms. Pool Shark with my minor embellishments.

It truly is PERFECT, and so very sweet!! I loved getting it in the mail and having it brighten my day!! The only cloud I see in my world today is not being closer in physical proximity to you. Can you imagine how we could spend our time together with both of our men working so hard to make our dreams come true. What a perfect world that would be. I love you.
