Irresistible Cheesy Biscuits

I have been searching for a biscuit recipe that I loved. Most recipes had to be discarded because they didn’t taste good, they were complicated or they used ingredients that I normally don’t around the house. I was looking for something specific, a nice throw together everyday biscuit recipe; easy peasy.

Funny enough I ended up finding the base for this recipe by accident. My cousin came over for our potluck Christmas dinner and forgot to bring the rolls. I zipped online and printed a random recipe where I had most of the ingredients. We were all surprised when they tasted so good. Of course there were quite a few issues, they were too flat, they stuck to the pan HORRIBLY, and the consistency was totally off. So I have tinkered, massaged, thrown out and added until I got a biscuit that we ADORE. Buttery, garlicky, cheesy goodness that is super easy to modify to match your meal, this recipe is a keeper.

1 ¾ cup flour
2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon baking powder
5 tablespoon butter
1 cup milk
¼ cup melted butter
3 cloves garlic

Make the basic recipe above or add a twist for different variations in texture and flavor; our favorite is the Colby Scallion one.

For the Twist
1. For this one you have to precook the bacon. 3 strips bacon precooked and crumbled, ½ of a medium onion, one cup of cheddar
2. A ¾ cup of shredded parmesan and 3 teaspoons of rosemary.
3. One cup of shredded Colby cheese and four scallions minced.

1. Preheat oven to 450
2. Bowl mix flour, salt, baking powder – cut in butter until coarse crumbs about the size of peas – add milk, garlic and cheese stir
3. Pam a cookie sheet – drop spoonful of dough and bake for 14 minutes
4. Lightly brush with butter

These did taste soooo good. i'm glad you tweaked the recipe a bit, it did need a little baking soda to help it raise and the cupcake idea was great too.
