So I was still deathly ill with the plague, I had been hoping that today would be the day that I would wake up and feel so much better but I have STILL not broken the back of this damn cold. I got to the point when I was hacking up half my lung last night where I considered taking Ms. Dancer up on her suggestion and just stay home, but I am the organizer, I am the Matron of Honor, this is my best friend and I have a mountain of Dayquil, I would just MUSCLE through the pain.
I muscled through, it wasn’t pretty but it happened. And what a day it was filled with one wonderful catastrophe after another. Let me start at the beginning.
Ms. Dancer and I planned this weekend months ago and I made all the hotel, spa, and dinner/ after dinner plans two months ago. With me being an over planner and our trip to Europe I was not going to leave everything until we got back, that would have been cutting it quite close with only two weeks. So I got everything situated before we left. This morning, and I know I could have done it earlier but remember the plague, so this morning I called the hotel to make sure our rooms were ok. Yea they weren’t. Seems there was a fire and the family that was living in one of the suites had to extend their stay because their house wasn’t ready. No big deal because they gave us a discount on our remaining suite and gave us two other deluxe rooms also discounted. Breathe ok its fine. Then because she was a chatty Kathy and she asked I told her where we were going to dinner. Her exact words are ‘I would only eat there if I were from the Ghetto’. So despite the research and despite the fact that they had a decent rating on Yelp I thanked her and changed our reservation from one restaurant to another. At least we wouldn’t be stuck eating bad food.
So then I call the duelling piano bar where we were planning on going after dinner except there is no answer but it is early, they could just open late right. By three in the afternoon I decide to call back the hotel and ask the oh so helpful desk girl if she knew what time they opened since I could not find hours on their website. Yea her exact words are ‘Oh that place was fun but they closed last week’.
DEEP BREATH now I have an hour before the girls start arriving and we don’t have anywhere to go after dinner. AND REMEMBER I AM DOING ALL THIS AND I HAVE THE PLAGUE.
So I do some research online, not much help there. So then I call all the hotels that are in the area and talk to them hoping to find another nice and cool place that we can go to have fun. All I get is crickets. No one has any suggestions other than the local Sports Bar. AWESOME.
In the end I find a dive bar with karaoke, and considering the group that we are with including Ms. Dancer LOVE’S karaoke this is what I decide we are going with. Feeling a bit calmer I pull into the hotel parking lot and look down at my dash. CRAP its 108 degrees outside. Welcome to the desert in summer.
The night, despite the start of my day ended fantastically. Ms. Dancer and the girls had a fantastic time. We had an amazing long drawn out sushi dinner, we played games and laughed at the things revealed, we had so much fun at the dive bar with the very loud karaoke (and we even managed a swing dance in there – hidden talents revealed), and much to the delight of all we grabbed a late night snack from Taco Bell which we dragged to our room and feasted on with much merriment. The night thank goodness was a huge hit. Congratulations Ms. Dancer!
