First Day of Fall

Around this time of year every year I miss the east coast. It isn’t that I don’t love Southern California, in fact I love it, but this time of year I yearn for my childhood home and dream again of moving back east.

Today is the first day of fall, which is my absolute favorite season of the year. The color of the leaves and the crisp crackling air, sitting around a fire with a blanket and a good book, Halloween and Thanksgiving scents fill in the empty spaces with their wild aromas and festivities, and then the sweaters and the hats come out… not quite cold enough for a jacket but just chilly enough for checks to glow.

Although California weather is UNPARRELLED in its perfectness, 75 and sunny almost EVERY SINGLE DAY, there is something about its monotony that gets on my nerves when a great majority of the United Sates is reveling in the reds and oranges of the great oaks; so I will be a little melancholy today, I will give myself a day to yearn for something different and then tomorrow I will go to the beach. May as well suck it up while I can!

Yeah, but it's cold and damp up north, the wind is biting, you DO need a coat on and the sky gets dreary and gray. Be careful what you wish for. I know, have someone send a pile of those beautiful colored leaves to you, throw them around in your yard, so you can also remember the fond memories of RAKING ALL THOSE DAMN LEAVES!! lol
