Europe Day 18, Venice & Rome: A Little Manual Labor

We have to leave Venice today for Rome and the thought of packing my bag YET AGAIN is enough to make my right eye start twitching. At least with day eighteen of our trip packing is starting to become a practiced art. Everything has its place and one of the girls simply sits on the bag for me so I can zip it… easy peasy. I really liked this hotel and Venice; I am going to miss it.

GOODBYE VENICE I WILL MISS YOU

I had finished packing a little early so I kicked back on the bed and enjoyed the calm before the storm. The journey to the airport is NOT going to be as much fun as the journey on our own private boat from the airport.

THE VIEW FROM OUR HOTEL ROOM WINDOW

Door to door service with only a twenty hour turnaround was fabulous but we are nearing the last week of our trip we had to work on our budgeting skills which meant carting our bags across the city, up a honking flight of stairs and then on the water taxi that would take us to the airport.

THIS IS SO NOT WHAT I WANT TO BE DOING RIGHT NOW ALTHOUGH I LOOK HAPPY IN THE PHOTO

Poor Ms. Dancer lugged her backpack and since Ms. Pool Shark is pregnant Ms. Dancer also carried her bag. That was a long flight of stairs Ms. Dancer, you are she-ra!

Although sad once we got to the boat we threw on some music and made the best of the oven we were in.

WE SHARE

I was sitting between Ms. Pool Shark and Ms. Dancer and since I didn’t want Ms. Dancer to feel left out I shared my iPod with Ms. Dancer. It was quite an experience to listen to two iPods at one time.

By the time we got to Rome, got to our hotel, checked in, got dinner and then returned to the hotel I was exhausted, or at least that is what I think this photo was… I was too tired to even remember. It does however bring an inkling that I was trying to show the HUGE bags under my eyes. I REALLY need to catch up on my sleep.

Before bed however there was still laundry to do. I had brought some powdered soap and Ms. Dancer and I got to work old school style scrubbing in the tub. I am so out of my comfort zone right now.

I LOOK LIKE A PEASANT FROM 1823 I PROMISE TO NEVER COMPLAIN ABOUT LAUNDRY AT HOME AGAIN – AT LEAST THERE I HAVE A MACHINE THAT DOES ALL THE WASHING AND DRYING FOR ME

Be thankful you had running water - they didn't have that in 1823. And you DO NOT have bags under your eyes, although I can appreciate that you must be exhausted by this point in your trip. I love the photo of you and Mrs Pool Shark!
