Nerdy Birdy: The Best Lens EVER

I went to San Joaquin to continue testing out the 500mm lens I rented for the week. This lens is making a huge difference in the photo quality I am able to take and I continue being astounded at what it can do.

One of my favourite birds at San Joaquin is the American Avocet. Particularly now in its breeding plumage with its red head and black and white body I just think it is a stunning bird.

And just when I thought they could get NO CUTER I noticed that they are finally nesting. You can JUST make out the eggs under the shots this bird.

I cannot wait until they hatch! Yea baby Avocets!

I spent over an hour trying to get a great clear shot of a Bushtit. They move CONSTANTLY and are almost impossible to photo.

Seriously, this lens is awesome, look at those feathers.

And then a new bird for me the Long Billed Dowitcher.

I loved the lighting and detail I was able to capture on this house finch.

And then I got a better look at the Gadwall, a bird that I have seen in the way distance before but finally found a little closer.

I cannot get over this lens, just look at this birds eye. JUST AWSOME!
