Taste Buds: Macadamia Nut Humas with Crispy Pitas

If you love humas and have never made your own you will find this recipe surprisingly easy and OH SO YUMMY. Ms. Bulldog and I made this last week and the memory of the blend of macadamia nuts in the humas makes me smile.


MACADAMIA NUT HUMAS

Ingredients:
½ Cup Roasted Macadamia Nuts
2 Cups Garbanzo Beans, drained
3 Tablespoons Macadamia Nut Oil
3 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
3 Tablespoons Water
½ Teaspoon Minced Garilc
10 Medium Basil Leaves
Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:
In a food processor combine all ingredients and puree. Serve as a spread for veggies or try it on the Crispy Pitas (see below).

CRISPY PITAS
Ingredients:
4 Large Pitas, or 6 Small Pitas
2 Tablespoons of Macadamia Nut Oil
1 Teaspoon of Lemon Pepper Seasoning
1 Teaspoon of Ground Cumin

Directions:
Cut up the pitas into six wedges. Place Pita wedges onto a baking sheet. Put the macadamia nut oil into a small bowl and brush onto one side of the pitas.

In a small bowl combine lemon pepper seasoning and the cumin. Sprinkle spice mixture onto the pita wedges.

Broil pitas until lightly browned, about 3 minutes.
